The Environmental Impact Assessment Certificate of Credit is a 20-credit module that provides a sound appreciation of the importance of conducting Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), together with an understanding of the techniques involved. The module takes a comparative international outlook and covers changes in EIA regulation and guidelines, as well as the environmental assessment of plans and programmes by Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA).

Module Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of the module, you will be able to:


  1. Demonstrate a comprehensive and critical understanding of environmental assessment including Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and the importance of the process for delivering sustainable development.
  2. Critically appraise Environmental Assessment including EIA implementation in a range of countries.
  3. Demonstrate the ability to execute an EIA and produce an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS).

  • You will normally require a good first degree in a related subject.
  • Applicants with professional qualifications or relevant experience can also apply.

    • Pearson Test of Academic English: 51
    • Cambridge Advanced Certificate: Pass
    • London Tests of English: we accept level 4 for undergraduate courses
