Work-Based Learning (Single Module) Level 7 (7KNIM763)

Course Overview

This module offers an opportunity to acquire academic credit for learning gained from specific educational activities undertaken in your workplace. For most students, this will be linked to a course or study days provided by your employers but for others, it may be an individual project or practice development negotiated with managers and colleagues.


Course Features

  • This course is available at both Level 6 and Level 7. Please ensure you apply for the appropriate Level (you need to provide evidence of a BSc Hons degree to study at Level 7).
  • Applications for:
    • Term 4 (work based learning modules only) will open end of April and close on 15 June.
    • Term 3 (work based learning modules only) will open end of January and close on 15 March.
    • Term 2 (work based learning modules only) will open end of September and close on 15 Nov.
    • Term 1 (work based learning modules only) will open end of June and close on 15 Sept.

Course Content

The work-based learning module is designed to offer a practice-related approach to learning. It provides an opportunity for students to gain academic credit for learning undertaken through structured educational activities in their workplace. The assessment allows students to critically reflect on themselves as lifelong learners and to focus on one or two aspects of their learning to demonstrate in-depth knowledge and understanding, and to critically evaluate the impact on their practice.


Learning Outcomes

By undertaking this module, students will have the opportunity to:


  • Further develop their critical thinking and writing skills.
  • Demonstrate knowledge, critical understanding and application to their practice of learning gained from a work-based learning opportunity.
  • Reflect on their effectiveness as an independent learner.
  • Develop strategies to improve their ability to learn effectively from work-based learning opportunities.
