Course Overview
This module provides an overview of the assessment and treatment of common child and adolescent mental health problems. Students will develop their clinical skills in relation to assessment and treatment, and also learn about the evidence base for practice in this area.
Course Features
This course is available at both Level 6 and Level 7. Please ensure you apply for the appropriate Level (you need to provide evidence of a BSc Hons degree to study at Level 7).
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the course students will be able to:
- Demonstrate advanced clinical skills and a comprehensive understanding of child and adolescent mental health assessment, including a critical awareness of cutting-edge theory and research in the area.
- Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of case formulation, and the ability to develop critiques of current practice.
- Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding and critical awareness of theory and research pertaining to child and adolescent mental health treatment, including the ability to critique current practice and develop new hypotheses.
- Demonstrate the ability to deal with complex issues in the application of theory to practice both systemically and creatively.
