Course Aims

  • Demonstrate knowledge of the government’s Children and Young People’s Mental Health and Wellbeing Services transformation and new workforce programmes, including Referral systems and Care pathways.
  • Demonstrate understanding of service settings as complex organisational systems.
  • Demonstrate critical appreciation of a range of key practice issues associated with the sustainable development of routine outcome monitoring in clinical practice
  • Demonstrate a critical appreciation of the key practice issues involved in sustainably increasing young people’s participation in the service.
  • Demonstrate an appreciation of the importance of staying up to date with the best available evidence for mental health interventions with children and young people in the relevant setting/s.
  • Synthesise new approaches to contribute to the development of methodology and understanding in transformational service change.
  • Demonstrate critical knowledge of the theoretical, research and implementation literature that underpins such service change.

Qualifications

  • Normally a minimum of a second-class Bachelor’s degree from a UK university or an overseas qualification of an equivalent standard in a relevant academic subject (e.g. Psychology, Education, Childhood Development, Social Work, etc), OR any subject with further training or experience in a relevant field (e.g. Teaching/Teaching Assistance, Learning Support, Healthcare Assistance, Youth Work, Counselling, etc)*
  • AND/OR a registerable professional qualification in a relevant subject (e.g. nursing, Psychology, Social Work) from a UK university or overseas professional qualification of an equivalent standard.
  • Candidates without a degree but with a minimum 3 years professional experience in a CYP service setting together with a relevant professional qualification will also be considered.

  • English Language Requirements: Capability to complete academic work at postgraduate diploma level, including IELTS or equivalent to the appropriate level for students with English as a foreign language (BAND D)
  • Priorities given to leads directly working with supervisors and trainees on CYP-MH programmes
