Want to be a commercially savvy legal professional? How about a business leader with a keen eye for the law? This joint honours course in business studies and law will help you achieve those goals.

Our four-year BSc (Hons) in Business Studies and Law gives you a clear understanding of the interface between business activity and the legal framework within which it operates. Law has an increasing influence on many aspects of business.

For example, it governs:

• contractual arrangements
• employment protection
• consumer protection
• many aspects of accounting and finance

Our programme prepares you for business careers with a legal dimension, developing insight and transferable skills that set you apart in a competitive job marketplace. You will also be able to pursue a legal career through further study after graduation, with the advantage of additional commercial knowledge.

You will learn from sector leading academics and seasoned business experts, and qualified solicitors and barristers with a wealth of real-world experience.

Entry Requirements

At Bradford, we take into consideration a number of factors when assessing your application.

Typical offer - 112 UCAS tariff points.

• A levels: BBC - there are no subject specific requirements.
• T levels: Merit - there are no specific subject requirements.
• BTEC Extended Diploma: DMM - there are no specific subject requirements.
• Applicants on Access Programmes: Meet UCAS tariff of 112 points. There are no specific subject requirements.
• International Baccalaureate Requirements: 112 points to include at least 2 HL subjects.
• Plus minimum of GCSE English at grade C or 4 (equivalents accepted).
• English language requirements: Minimum IELTS at 6.0 or the equivalent.

Foundation Year Entry

If you are a UK student and do not meet the entry requirements for this course, our Foundation Year in Management, Law and Social Sciences has a route to Business Studies and Law BSc (Hons)

• Foundation Year entry requirements: 64 UCAS points or equivalent plus an English Language qualification equivalent to GCSE Grade 4.
• Study and progression requirements: Pass each module and achieve a programme average of at least 40%.

Transferring from Another University

If you are currently studying at another university and would like to transfer to the University of Bradford, this course accepts students into the second or third year. This is called advanced entry.

Applications for advanced entry will be considered on a case-by-case basis and must include an official transcript (not a screenshot of a portal), all module descriptors, and relevant qualifications. Module descriptors must include learning outcomes.

Applications must be submitted through UCAS and the required documents emailed along with your UCAS Personal ID no later than 31 August prior to the course starting in September.

Professional Placement

A placement year allows you to apply your academic learning within a wide range of industries, including private, public, and not-for-profit sectors. You will gain hands-on experience, develop skills such as communication, problem-solving, and entrepreneurship, and build a professional network that will benefit your future career.

We will support you throughout the process, offering:

Teaching, Learning and Assessment

Methods of assessment vary according to the learning outcomes of particular modules and the stage of study. Accordingly, a mixture of examinations, essays, group work and presentations will be used in assessment of your work.

For all taught modules your learning will be directed, supported and reinforced through a combination of lectures, tutorials, small group seminars, virtual learning environment activities and guided private studies. Generally, for each module, you will attend one lecture and one tutorial each week during which you will be in direct contact with teaching staff.
