International Business and Management BSc (Hons)

Overview

Develop the skills you need to manage business operations in the global economy.


You’ll explore key international corporate and economic issues, and get the tools and commercial insight you need to launch a managerial career anywhere in the world, or pursue entrepreneurial opportunities.


The programme examines topics such as:


  • how multinationals operate in emerging economies
  • implications of Brexit for European business and management
  • challenges of managing across cultures
  • fundamentals of strategic management
  • business law and ethics

You can tailor your studies to emerging areas of interest or career aspirations through a range of optional modules in areas such as marketing, finance and human resource management.


A sandwich placement year, taken in year three of the programme, enables you to develop your skills and professional confidence - and boosts your employability on graduation.


You’ll build a broad foundation of knowledge on all aspects of business and management, ensuring you graduate as a well-rounded professional with excellent commercial awareness and an invaluable global perspective.


Professional Accreditation

This degree is accredited by The Institute of Export and International Trade.


A number of professional accountancy bodies give exemptions for examinations taken at different stages of their professional qualification, including ICAEW, ACCA, AIA and CIMA, and CPA Australia. Depending on specific accounting modules taken, this programme may entitle students to be eligible for exemptions.


The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) accredit this programme. This means that, by successfully completing your degree, you are eligible for exemptions from some ACCA fundamental level examinations.

Applicants on Access Programmes

  • Meet UCAS tariff of 112 points. There are no subject specific requirements.

International Baccalaureate Requirements

  • 112 points to include at least 2 HL subjects plus HL 3 or SL 4 in Maths.
  • Plus minimum of
    • GCSE English and Mathematics at grade C or 4 (equivalents accepted).

English Language Requirements

  • Minimum IELTS at 6.0 or the equivalent.

Foundation Year Entry

If you are a UK student and do not meet the entry requirements for this course, our Foundation Year in Management, Law and Social Sciences has a route to International Business and Management BSc (Hons)


Foundation Year Entry Requirements

  • 64 UCAS points or equivalent plus an English Language and a Maths qualification equivalent to GCSE Grade 4.

Study and Progression Requirements

  • Pass each module and achieve a programme average of at least 40%.
  • If you do not have the required Maths entry qualification you must study Maths and Stats for Higher Education.

Transferring from Another University

If you are currently studying at another university and would like to transfer to the University of Bradford, this course accepts students into the second or third year. This is called advanced entry.


Applications for advanced entry will be considered on a case-by-case basis and must include an official transcript (not a screenshot of a portal), all module descriptors, and relevant qualifications. Module descriptors must include learning outcomes.

Professional Placement

A placement year allows you to apply your academic learning within a wide range of industries, including private, public, and not-for-profit sectors. You will gain hands-on experience, develop skills such as communication, problem-solving, and entrepreneurship, and build a professional network that will benefit your future career.


Teaching, Learning and Assessment

For all taught modules your learning will be directed, supported and reinforced through a combination of lectures, tutorials, small group seminars, virtual learning environment activities and guided private studies. Generally, for each module, you will attend one lecture and one tutorial each week during which you will be in direct contact with teaching staff.


Methods of assessment vary according to the learning outcomes of particular modules and the stage of study. Accordingly, a mixture of examinations, essays, group work and presentations will be used in assessment of your work.
