Overview
LLM International Banking and Financial Technology Law offers specialist knowledge of banking and financial technology law, covering core areas of modern banking and regulation of areas relating to Fintech, including:
- Bank-customer legal relationships
- Laws and principles of financial regulation
- Regulation of financial markets and securities
- Regulation of financial products and services
- Regulation of digital finance
- Virtual assets
- Robo-advisors
You will learn about the global challenges emerging for banks and Fintech companies in areas such as climate change, sustainability, financial inclusion, and the use of disruptive technologies, and the emerging legal requirements associated with addressing these challenges.
The programme is suitable for law graduates with an interest in banking and finance law - one of the important areas of legal practice, and also for non-law graduates who seek corporate employment, or employment in organisations with a focus on the financial services industry and Fintech.
The programme offers flexible delivery, which includes face-to-face delivery on the Bradford campus, or distance learning. Full-time and part-time options are offered for both types of programme.
Entry Requirements
- 2:2 or above in any subject, or relevant work experience at graduate level.
- English language requirements:
- IELTS requirement: 6.5 overall, with a minimum of 5.5 in each sub-test

Teaching, Learning, and Assessment
Teaching on the programme is delivered by the same academics that lecture and support the campus LLM programme. All learning activities are digitally enabled. This includes access to materials, textbooks, and discussion boards. Asynchronous lectures and online learning material is complemented by synchronous online tutorials with the tutor(s).
There are no timed, closed book examinations for this programme. Instead, we use a variety of programme work assignments to develop and test research, critical thinking, problem-solving, and writing skills. You might therefore be asked to write a traditional academic essay, to create a portfolio of activities, to write a book review or develop a research plan. The type of assessment for each module will be specified in the module descriptor with more detail being available in the module handbook.
