Course Overview

The Physiotherapy MSc course is designed for qualified physiotherapists who wish to further develop their leadership skills and entrepreneurial mindset. The course emphasizes the four pillars of physiotherapy practice: manual therapy and therapeutic handling, exercise, movement and rehabilitation, therapeutic and diagnostic technologies, and allied approaches.

  • Leadership and Entrepreneurship – 30 credits
    • Develop leadership skills and creative thinking around formulating an entrepreneurial idea.
    • Explore entrepreneurship opportunities across the NHS, the private sector, and wider society in a physiotherapy context.
  • Clinical Reasoning in Healthcare – 30 credits
    • Enhance theoretical skills of reasoning, diagnostic skills, and the application of assessment and management skills in an in-patient setting.
  • Inclusive Physiotherapy Practice – 30 credits
    • Explore health literacy and the impact of disabilities on the individual’s life and health promotion.
    • Consider the role of rehabilitation and reablement in holistic, patient-centred care.
  • Community-centred Health and Wellbeing – 30 credits
    • Physiotherapists are in the ideal position to influence the health and wellbeing of people and their communities.

  • Applied Health and Care Research Project – 60 credits

Teaching Contact Hours

Entry Requirements

  • UK: An honours degree 2:2 or above (or international equivalent) in physiotherapy.
  • International: An honours degree 2:2 or above (or international equivalent) in physiotherapy.
  • English language requirements: IELTS: 7.0 overall, with no component lower than 6.5.

Fees and Funding

  • UK, Ireland, Channel Islands, or Isle of Man: £11,200 per year (2024/2025 fees).
  • EU: £11,200 per year with EU Support Bursary (2024/2025 fees).
  • International: £18,600 per year (2024/2025 fees).
