Program Overview

Wichita State's dual / accelerated 3+2 bachelor's to master's program in athletic training is specifically designed to prepare qualified students for graduate-level work in exercise science and athletic training through a coordinated accelerated program leading to both a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Exercise Science and a Master of Science (MS) in Athletic Training.


Program Accreditation

The program is accredited through the Commission on Accreditation for Athletic Training Education (CAATE), 2001 K Street NW, Third Floor North, Washington, DC 20006 USA. The program is currently applying to the CAATE for a change in level of degree and is pending approval.


Admission Requirements

To be considered for admission to the accelerated 3+2 Master of Science in Athletic Training (MSAT) program, submit a Graduate School application and fee, and complete the following requirements:


  • Overall undergraduate GPA of 2.75
  • Completion of at least 60 credit hours of undergraduate study
  • Personal interview with MSAT faculty before formal selection and admittance
  • Submit the completed MSAT admission packet

Curriculum

Upon admission to the dual / accelerated program, you'll be granted tentative admission to the graduate program in athletic training and allowed to enroll in courses for graduate credit prior to completing undergraduate degree requirements.


Candidates are required to successfully complete all components of the Master of Science in athletic training (MSAT) program, which consists of 62 total credit hours. Requirements for graduation relate to coursework, applied learning experiences, research project and a comprehensive exam. In addition, candidates will apply and sit for their Board of Certification exam during their last semester.
