Program Overview
Graduate Certificate in Energy Engineering
Overview
Wichita State's graduate certificate in energy engineering is designed for students who hold a Bachelor of Science (BS) in engineering. The program is also available to students who have experience in energy systems.
Curriculum
To complete the certificate, you'll take required courses in renewable energy engineering, and energy and sustainability. You'll then choose additional courses from topics like:
- Electric power systems analysis
- Characterization and modeling of batteries
- Power system reliability
- Competitive power systems economics and markets
- Thermodynamics
- Engineering for the environment
- Advanced materials for energy systems
- Solar energy materials
- Modeling and optimization of building energy
- Renewable energy
- Electrochemical systems
Depending on your academic background, some of the certificate courses may require additional prerequisites.
Admission to the Program
There are two paths to admission to the program:
- For those already enrolled in graduate school, simply complete the Declaration of Intent to Pursue a Certificate Form.
- Prospective students should apply using the Graduate School application for admission.
