Major: Nursing - RN to BSN

Overview

Wichita State’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) RN-to-BSN online program helps qualified RNs earn their career-advancing BSN—affordably and conveniently. As an RN-to-BSN student, you'll:

  • Earn your BSN in as little as three semesters
  • Take all courses online
  • Gain leadership skills
  • Get 30 hours of credit for life experience
  • Pay affordable in-state tuition
  • Build a foundation for advanced nursing degrees

Applied Learning

As part of their degree, RN to BSN students complete an applied learning or research experience to graduate from the program. The requirement can be met by completing all required coursework culminating with the Nursing Leadership Practicum for the Practicing RN course.

Admission

Registered nurses must apply to WSU and submit official transcripts of courses and records verifying completion of an accredited RN program.

Curriculum

The professional curriculum consists of 31 credit hours, with courses offered in eight-week blocks. Registered nurses receive 30 hours of upper division credit hours for life experience toward the BSN degree by demonstrating successful completion of the NCLEX-RN national exam.

Careers

Many advanced nursing careers require a BSN as the foundation for graduate studies, including:

  • Nurse practitioner
  • Nurse midwife
  • Nurse anesthetist
  • Clinical nurse specialist
  • Nurse educator
  • Chief nursing officer
