Our Film and Media Studies degree will allow you to explore your passion for film and media. You'll watch, discuss, analyze, and become thoroughly immersed in film, whilst consuming and commenting upon contemporary media in all its forms.

- Media Passport: Production, Texts and Contexts (100 Credits) Core
- This module will orient you in the contemporary media landscape as creators, producers, and critical consumers.
- Platform Production (20 Credits) Core
- This module gives you the opportunity to put your L4 production skills into practice by developing and producing content for one of our university platforms.
- Language options (20 Credits) Option
- You can choose to learn a new language or build on your existing language skills as part of your degree.
- Media Passport: Production, Texts and Contexts (100 Credits) Core
- Year 2:
- Digital Media Creation and Storytelling (40 Credits) Core
- In this module, you'll learn about the art, form, and technique of telling stories across different forms of media.
- Global Cinema (40 Credits) Core
- This module takes an in-depth look at cinema from around the world to understand why it became, and remains, such a powerful medium of storytelling.
- Creativity in the Modern Workplace (40 Credits) Option
- The module provides students with an opportunity to undertake a 140-hour work placement.
- Creative Futures: CSP (40 Credits) Option
- This module will provide you with the practical and theoretical underpinning of professional practice in your specific subject.
- Experiential Learning (40 Credits) Option
- This is an experiential learning opportunity that incorporates 20 teaching contact hours/lectures to prepare for the 150 contract hours.
- Work Placement (40 Credits) Option
- This module provides a structured, university-level work placement for 4, 5, or 7 weeks as one continuous block/period with a placement provider.
- Language options (40 Credits) Option
- The Level 5, 40-credit modules require a basic foundation of knowledge of your chosen language.

- In this module, you'll further develop your storytelling capabilities through the study and application of various specialist production techniques.
- Being a Media Professional (20 Credits) Core
- Being a creative media professional requires you to think about branding, self-marketing, and networking.
- CSP Negotiated Research Project (40 Credits) Core
- This self-directed module allows students to initiate and develop their own major project ideas appropriate to their discipline of study.
- Filmmakers (40 Credits) Core
- This module offers an in-depth exploration of a range of filmmakers, from classic auteurs to contemporary multi-media creators.
- Specialist Production (20 Credits) Core
Assessment
- You will be assessed in a variety of ways, including portfolios, essays, reflective logs, and presentations.
