International Tourism Management and Marketing BA (Hons)
Overview
This course is designed to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and competencies required to succeed in the tourism and marketing industries. The program combines theoretical foundations with practical applications, providing students with a comprehensive understanding of international tourism management and marketing.
Course Structure
The course is delivered over three years, with each year consisting of three terms of ten weeks each. Students will study 40 credits per term, comprising one or two modules. Scheduled contact hours range from six to ten hours per week, depending on the level of study and the complexity of the material being taught.
Modules
Year 1
- International Tourism Concepts and Practice (40 Credits): This module explores key themes in tourism, including definitions, theories, and types of tourism, as well as the size, scale, and importance of international tourism.
- Marketing Experience (20 Credits): This module expands students' knowledge of marketing principles, focusing on practical and digital contexts.
- Marketing Trends (20 Credits): This module provides students with a deeper understanding of current marketing issues and practices, including sustainability, ethics, and digital disruption.
Year 2
- Global Tourism Development (40 Credits): This module investigates the issues associated with international tourism development, including globalization, development theories, and societal, environmental, and economic impacts.
- International Marketing (20 Credits): This module explores marketing principles within a global context, developing students' understanding of cultural contexts and the adaptations required for effective marketing.
- Social Media Marketing (20 Credits): This module focuses on social media campaign planning and approaches to engaging audiences through social media channels.
Year 3
- Project Management (20 Credits): This module develops students' knowledge of project management concepts, processes, tools, and competencies.
- Tourism Destination Planning and Management (40 Credits): This module considers how public bodies and destination management organizations contribute to sustainable destination planning and management.
- Strategic Marketing (20 Credits): This module provides a comprehensive understanding of strategic marketing planning and management processes.
Entry Requirements
- Home Students: 112 UCAS points, with typical offers ranging from BCC to BBC.
- International Students: 72 UCAS points, with typical offers ranging from MMP to DMM.
- Foundation Year: 72 UCAS points, with typical offers ranging from MMP to DMM.
Fees and Funding
- Home Students: £9,535 per year for a full-time course (2025/26).
- International Students: £14,450 per year for a full-time course (2025/26).
