The Higher Diploma in Business in Operations Management is designed to give learners an opportunity to acquire an integrated understanding of the operation and strategy of Quality and Lean Management and to develop transferable and transversal skills.

Module Descriptions
1. Operations and Quality Management
This module introduces the principles of operations management, including supply chain strategy, logistics, process design, and inventory control. It also explores quality management frameworks such as quality assurance, continuous improvement (Kaizen), and lean methodologies.
2. Project Finances
Focused on the financial skills needed to manage and assess business projects, this module covers budgeting processes, financial planning, cost control, and performance evaluation.
3. Business Ethics and Sustainability
This module examines the role of ethical decision-making and sustainable practices in modern business. It explores how ethical frameworks, corporate social responsibility, and environmental considerations influence business strategy and stakeholder relationships.
4. Crafting and Executing Strategy
Learners will develop strategic thinking skills by examining how organisations formulate and implement business strategy. Topics include competitive positioning, strategic analysis, business model innovation, and the global business environment.
5. Decision Making and Business Analytics
This module explores the tools and techniques used to support data-driven decision-making. Learners will interpret financial statements, assess key performance indicators, and analyse business data using modern analytics techniques.
6. Managing People and Organisational Change
Focusing on the human side of operations, this module explores organisational structures, culture, and the challenges of leading change. Students will develop skills in communication, conflict resolution, stakeholder engagement, and managing resistance to change.
Entry Requirements
Applicants should possess an NFQ Level 7 Ordinary Degree or equivalent, plus three years relevant work experience or in line with the TUS RPL Policy.
