Program Overview


Course Overview

This Heavy Vehicle Diagnostics module is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair complex systems in heavy-duty vehicles. This module focuses on various components and systems found in heavy vehicles, including engines, transmissions, braking systems, electrical systems, and onboard computers.


Entry Requirements

Minimum entry requirements, Level 6 in light or heavy vehicle trades, level 6 in automobile engineering full-time education and or required practical training accrued through industry experience which can be verified through RPL policy.

English Language Requirements

Applicants who do not have English as their first language must ensure they satisfy English Language requirements. For entry to undergraduate courses, a minimum score of 5.5 in an IELTS exam is required. For postgraduate courses, a minimum of 6.0 is required.

Delivery

  • The programme will be delivered online over a period of 12 weeks, live on Mondays 7-10pm, commencing Monday 19th January, 2026.
  • In addition, there will be two Saturdays practical training days during the semester, dates to be confirmed with each cohort.
  • All online sessions will be recorded.

Time Commitment

  • Each 5 credits will normally equate to approximately 100 Total Learning hours.
  • Total Learning Hours includes the time you spend in class (lectures, tutorials, practical elements) and the time you spend completing work outside of college.

  • Assessment Strategies may consist of the following:
    • Continuous Assessment and Feedback

    • Practical Assessments, Open book Exam, Work-based project, written assignments, Practical Labs

Qualification

  • Certificate in Heavy Vehicle Diagnostics Bus And Truck (Special Purpose Award, Level 7, 10 Credits)
