Higher Certificate in Procurement, Logistics and Supply Chain Management
Course Overview
This programme aims to introduce students to the core business discipline of procurement, logistics and supply chain management knowledge which forms the basis for a successful career in industry, commerce, public sector organisations or as an entrepreneur. Students will gain an understanding of the functional areas of business and the factors which influence business success through a procurement, logistics and supply chain management lens.
Entry Requirements
Mature applicants (i.e over 23 years) that have completed the Level 6 Certificate in Logistics and Supply Chain Management or equivalent qualification or Recognition of Prior Learning (APL/APEL).

Modules
Principles of Procurement
This module examines procurement strategies, supplier management, and key performance indicators (KPIs) for procurement effectiveness. It explores ethical sourcing, risk management, and the role of digital technology in procurement.
Micro and Macro Economics
This module introduces students to economic theories and their applications in business. Topics include supply and demand, market structures, fiscal policy, and international trade.
Tendering, Contract and Negotiation
Students will gain insights into the tendering process, contract management, and negotiation strategies. The module includes legal frameworks, supplier evaluation, and sustainable procurement practices.
Spend Analytics, Inventory & Category Management
This module covers techniques for analysing procurement spend, inventory control, and category management. It explores cost-saving strategies and supply chain optimisation.
Introduction to Financial and Management Accounting for Business
Students will develop financial literacy, covering topics such as financial statements, cost accounting, budgeting, and financial performance analysis. The module also explores the role of accounting in business decision-making.
Applied Practice 2 – Organisational Alignment
This module builds on the first applied practice module, focusing on organisational strategy, industry analysis, and change management. It encourages students to apply business analysis techniques such as SWOT and PESTLE.
Schedule
- 2-3 evenings per week 6pm to 9pm (online)
- Occasional Saturdays (online)
Lectures will be delivered live online, and recordings of lectures will be available to view in the student’s own time.

Successful graduates of this programme are eligible for the Level 7 Bachelor of Business in Procurement, Logistics and Supply Chain Management programme.
