Our MSc degree in Strategic Tourism and Hospitality Management unlocks a world of opportunities and advantages. Based on the principles of the United Nations’ Sustainability Development Goals (SDGs), and in partnership with the Institute of Hospitality, the world’s leading, award-winning professional membership body for hospitality professionals, our degree is designed to equip you with the knowledge and skills you need to thrive in this ever-changing sector. The programme covers a wide range of strategic areas, from management, marketing, sales management, and entrepreneurship to finance management, leadership, human resources, and governance and policy.
We believe in learning by doing. Through the internship, field trips, and hands-on projects, you will apply theories and strategic data-analytics skills developed as part of your Master’s programme to identify, analyse, and proffer strategic and sustainable solutions to real-world challenges. We will provide you with networking opportunities and will connect you with professionals, alumni, and peers through our extensive tourism and hospitality networks.
To make your education a personalised journey, we offer two optional modules for your individual project. You can engage in either a dissertation-research project or an internship and consultancy project to address current industry challenges, ensuring that you are at the forefront of industry innovations.

Entry requirements
UK citizens and permanent residents
An undergraduate (honours) degree at 2:2, or above.
Applicants without a degree that have professional qualifications or relevant professional experience may be considered.

How you will learn
Teaching
In a typical week, learning takes place through a combination of lectures and seminars. You'll be able to discuss and develop your understanding of topics covered in lectures in smaller group sessions. Contact hours may fall between 9am and 9pm, depending on your elective courses and tutorials.

Independent learning
Outside of timetabled sessions, you'll need to dedicate time to self-study to prepare for coursework, presentations and exams. Our Stockwell Street library and online resources will support your further reading and research.
You can also join a range of student societies, including the Tourism Society.
Overall workload
Your overall workload consists of contact hours (lectures, seminars, etc), independent learning, and assessments. For full-time students, the workload should be roughly equivalent to a full-time job. For part-time students, this will reduce in proportion with the number of modules you are studying.
Assessment
Students will be assessed through:
- examinations
- a range of coursework
- dissertation or a consultancy project.
Feedback summary
We aim to provide feedback on assignments and to release examination results within 15 working days.

University accommodation is available from £126.35 per person per week (bills included), depending on your location and preferences. If you require more space or facilities, these options are available at a slightly higher cost.
Scholarships and bursaries

The Greenwich Bursary
This bursary is worth £700 for new undergraduate students with a low household income, entering Year 0 or 1 who meet the eligibility criteria.
EU Bursary
Following the UK's departure from the European Union, we are supporting new EU students by offering a substantial fee-reduction for studying.
Careers and placements
Will I have a work placement?
Students are offered an optional placement with a tourism or hospitality business as part of the Internship and Consultancy Project module. You arrange the placement in an organisation of your choice. The university's placement department and the programme team will assist you in finding suitable organisations for placement.
How long is my placement?
The duration of the placement will be four to six weeks.
What sort of careers do graduates pursue?
Careers in all aspects of the tourism and hospitality industry are open to you, including leadership and managerial roles, business start-ups and consultancy.
Graduates go on to roles in major tourism and hospitality businesses, large hotel companies, government tourism agencies, major online and high street travel and tour agencies, international tourism organisations, tour operators, airlines, marketing, and cultural, heritage, festival and other specialist tourism operations.

Support and advice
Academic skills and study support
Access study skills support through your academic tutor, our subject librarians and our online academic skills centre.
Where appropriate, we provide support in academic English and mathematics. If you need support to use particular IT packages for a specific module, we provide training for this.
We also offer a range of activities to support you throughout your studies during GRE Fest, which includes several workshops that support our students and provide useful information.
All students will also be assigned an academic tutor as the first point of contact for any academic queries.

At Greenwich Business School, you can access comprehensive support through our dedicated teams. The GBS Student Support team handles course-related matters via the Digital Student Centre.
Our Faculty Student Advisors (FSAs) provide pastoral and welfare support to first-year students.
