Master of Science
About the course
The Master of Science (thesis and coursework) is a research degree with students selecting one from the following discipline areas; Agriculture and Environment, Biological Sciences, Earth Sciences, Human Sciences, Molecular Sciences and Psychological Science.
Students will gain advanced knowledge in their chosen area of study, through independent research and coursework units that include a literature review/proposal unit and an advanced coursework unit.
UWA scientists are excited and passionate about their research. We invite Honours (or equivalent) graduates to consider undertaking the one-year Master of Science by Thesis and Coursework to work with, and learn from, our internationally recognised teaching and research staff in Science.
We are engaged in a wide range of scientific research across biological, molecular, human, psychological, agricultural, environmental and earth sciences.
In this course, you'll gain advanced understanding and skills in your chosen area of study, through undertaking a supervised research project and coursework units that include a literature review/proposal unit and an advanced coursework unit. You will present your thesis as a scientific paper to demonstrate high level research skills including project design and management, data gathering, analysis and synthesis, and development of summaries and conclusions as appropriate for the scientific discipline in which the research is undertaken.

Admission requirements
To be considered for admission to this course an applicant must have—
(a) a Bachelor of Science with at least upper second class Honours (2A), or an equivalent qualification, as recognised by UWA;
and
(b) a written agreement by a suitable research supervisor.

English competency
English is the language of instruction and assessment at UWA and you will need to meet the English language requirements of the University to be eligible for a place.
