Program Overview
Architecture Pathways
Architects guide, plan and shape the world around us.
Pathway Details
An Architecture degree sets you on the path to conceptualise and design buildings, urban configurations and landscapes in response to economic, technical and social needs and desires. At UWA you’ll benefit from intensive teaching with a low student-to-staff ratio in design studios. Practical studies are supported by investigating design communication, sustainable design and historical, theoretical and ethical aspects. You also have the opportunity to exhibit your work at the Cullity Gallery.
Graduate Architect
To become a graduate architect, you need to study a minimum of 5 years.
Pathways for Mature-Age Students
If you will be aged 20 years or older on 1 March (for Semester 1 entry) or 1 August (for Semester 2 entry) you qualify for our mature-age-entry pathways.

Considering a career change? If you have completed an undergraduate degree without the required architecture studies, you may still gain entry to a Master of Architecture. You'll take conversion units that will make the course duration up to 3.5 years.
Course Accreditation
The Master of Architecture (25520) is accredited by the Architects Board of Western Australia through a process administered by the Architects Accreditation Council Australia. Following completion of the course, graduates will be required to complete a minimum 3,300 hours (approximately 2 years) of professional experience, usually under the supervision of an architect and pass the national Architecture Practice Examination (ACE) before being eligible to apply for registration as an architect in Australia.
