Program Overview


Doctor of Clinical Dentistry

The Doctor of Clinical Dentistry (DClinDent) is a three-year, full-time specialist training program for qualified dentists.


Program Objectives

The DClinDent program provides didactic and clinical tuition in specialist dentistry and related subjects. This is largely achieved through an understanding and a firm command of the contemporary literature related to and associated with specialist dentistry. Students are trained in research methodology and are required to design and conduct a research project.


Admission Requirements

To be considered for admission to this course, an applicant must have:


  • A Bachelor of Dental Science, or an equivalent qualification, as recognised by UWA
  • At least two years of full-time professional experience or equivalent in the practice of general dentistry
  • Current registration as a dentist in Australia

Course Structure

The DClinDent program comprises a mix of didactic coursework, clinical work, and a research project covering all aspects of specialist dentistry practice.

  • Oral and Maxillofacial Radiography and Radiology (6 points)
  • Biostatistics I (6 points)

Each specialisation has its own set of units, which include didactic coursework, clinical practice, and research dissertation.

Tuition Fees

  • Domestic students: $45,100 per annum (full-fee paying place)
  • International students: $75,700 per annum

Scholarships

Scholarships are available to students from a diverse range of backgrounds, including academic achievement, financial need, educational disadvantage, leadership, and community service.

  • Dental Registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • English language competency (e.g., IELTS, PTE, TOEFL)
  • Curriculum Vitae showing dental experience
  • Personal statement outlining interest in chosen specialisation
  • Two referee reports on the required template
