Admission Requirements

  • Admission Requirements:
    • A bachelor's degree, or an equivalent qualification, as recognised by UWA.
    • A degree with six units in a discipline that is relevant for the school curriculum major, with at least two of those units studied at second year university level and two at third year university level.
    • The equivalent of a UWA weighted average mark of at least 60 per cent.
    • A satisfactory personal statement, as recognised by UWA.
  • English Language Requirements:
    • At least two years full-time equivalent study at tertiary level in one of the following countries: Australia, New Zealand, United Kingdom, Republic of Ireland, United States of America, Canada (except Quebec), South Africa.
    • A valid IELTS Academic overall score of at least 7.5, a minimum score of 7.0 in the Reading and Writing bands, and a minimum score of 8.0 in the Listening and Speaking bands.

Teaching Periods

  • Our Master of Teaching courses are delivered across four teaching periods that align closely to school terms.
  • Professional practice placements for first-year students will occur in the third teaching period (August to September).

Commonwealth Teaching Scholarships

  • If you're planning to study teaching, whether you're a school leaver or career changer, the Commonwealth Teaching Scholarship provided by the Department of Education is available to eligible new full-time students.
  • The scholarship helps with study costs and provides opportunities to teach in government schools or government-run early learning settings once you graduate.

Accreditation

  • The Master of Teaching - Secondary (32550) is accredited by the Teacher Registration Board of Western Australia (TRBWA).
  • Graduates of the program will meet the qualification requirements for Provisional Registration with the TRBWA.
