Master of Professional Engineering

Overview

The Master of Professional Engineering is a postgraduate degree that equips students with advanced technical expertise, critical thinking, and professional skills required to remain competitive in a global workforce. The course is developed in consultation with industry to ensure students gain the skills to succeed in their future careers.

Course Structure

The course structure comprises a number of units, including:


  • Conversion units (up to 48 points) for students who have not completed a major in Engineering Science or equivalent
  • Core units (24 points):
    • GENG5010 Professional Engineering Portfolio (0)
    • GENG5505 Project Management and Engineering Practice (6)
    • GENG5507 Risk, Reliability and Safety (6)
    • GENG5511 MPE Engineering Research Project Part 1 (6)
    • GENG5512 MPE Engineering Research Project Part 2 (6)
  • Specialisation units (48-60 points) depending on the chosen specialisation
  • Elective units (up to 36 points) depending on the chosen specialisation

Admission Requirements

To be considered for admission to this course, an applicant must have:


  • A UWA bachelor's degree with a major in MJD-ENGSC Engineering Science or Bachelor of Automation and Robotics
  • A bachelor's degree, or an equivalent qualification, as recognised by UWA, with a weighted average mark of at least 65 per cent and prior studies in engineering, physics, or mathematics
  • Completed units in the Master of Professional Engineering Preliminary course at UWA as prescribed by the School of Engineering
  • Completed a UWA Diploma in Science with a major in MJD-ENGSC Engineering Science

English Competency

English is the language of instruction and assessment at UWA, and students must meet the English language requirements of the University to be eligible for a place. The minimum overall IELTS score required is 6.5, with no band less than 6.0.
