Admission requirements

  • To be considered for admission to this course an applicant must have—
    • (a) a relevant bachelor's degree, or an equivalent qualification, as recognised by UWA;
    • (b) the equivalent of a UWA weighted average mark of at least 60 per cent.
  • Applicants must compete for a place in Semester 1 if they have either;
    • (a) a bachelor's degree that has been accredited by Exercise & Sport Science Australia at the 'Exercise Science' level;
    • (b) an official ESSA "Graduate Entry Assessment" letter that demonstrates equivalence with "Exercise Science" members.
  • All other applicants must compete for a place in Semester 2, and must have a relevant bachelor's degree that included foundation units in anatomy, functional anatomy, human physiology, biomechanics, exercise physiology and research methods/statistics.

Ranking and Selection Process

  • Where relevant, admission will be awarded to the highest ranked applicants or applicants selected based on—
    • (a) the weighted average mark;
    • (b) the intake quota for that semester

English competency

  • English is the language of instruction and assessment at UWA and you will need to meet the English language requirements of the University to be eligible for a place.
  • Graduate applicants require at least two successful years of full-time or equivalent degree studies undertaken in Australia, Canada (excluding Quebec), Ireland, New Zealand, the United Kingdom or the United States of America.
  • Applicants presenting with the IELTS Academic require an overall score of at least 7.0 and no band less than 7.0.

Fees and scholarships

Domestic Student Fees

  • Annual course fee: $24,800.00 (2025)
  • For Full-Fee Paying places, students are charged an annual course fee, charged per credit point at a rate dependent on the course in which the student is enrolled.
  • Annual course fees are calculated based on a standard annual study load of 48 credit points (1.0 EFTSL).

International Student Fees

  • Annual course fee: $46,200.00 (2025)
  • Onshore international students are charged an annual course fee, charged per credit point at a rate dependent on the course in which the student is enrolled.

What you'll learn

  • Understand, design or modify, and apply, assessment protocols and methods appropriate to the athlete or team and the situation.
  • Ability to design, deliver and interpret safe, effective and evidence-based Sports Science interventions for service users in a collaborative manner with medical, allied health and coaching staff
  • Able to monitor, recognise, interpret, report and take appropriate action regarding adverse signs and symptoms that may arise during exercise, sport or recovery
  • Understanding of, and capacity to practise in accordance with, ethically relevant policies, legislation and regulations, including those concerning anti-doping, member protection, match fixing, privacy, equal opportunity, antidiscrimination, and workplace health and safety.

UWA Exercise and Performance Centre

  • The UWA Exercise and Performance Centre (EPC) provides individual and group exercise services to improve health, function and physical performance.
  • Exercise services, including individual and group programs, are provided by Accredited Exercise Physiologists (AEP) and Physiotherapists.
  • A variety of clinical programs are run each week through EPC, providing a tailored and supportive environment for clients.
