About the course

This unique course is delivered in partnership between UWA and Chartered Accountants Australia & New Zealand (CA ANZ). The course enables you to complete a Graduate Diploma from UWA and the prestigious Chartered Accountants (CA) program at the same time. This unique qualification will provide you with advanced professional accounting knowledge and a competitive edge in the employment market.


Course Structure

The course comprises eight units. All units (except the ICAP unit) are delivered face-to-face in the UWA Business School by experienced UWA academic staff in partnership with CA ANZ. The ICAP is delivered exclusively by the CA ANZ.

Admission Requirements

To be considered for admission to this course an applicant must have—


  • (a) a Bachelor's degree, or an equivalent qualification, as recognised by UWA;
  • (b) the equivalent of a UWA weighted average mark of at least 65 per cent;
  • (c) successfully completed prior tertiary study in an accounting major; and
  • (d) hold or be eligible for a Chartered Accountants ANZ Provisional Membership

English competency

English is the language of instruction and assessment at UWA and you will need to meet the English language requirements of the University to be eligible for a place.


  • Minimum overall IELTS score of 6.5, with no band less than 6.0.

Chartered accountants are employed in professional accounting firms, large and small for-profit entities as well as not-for-profit and government organisations. Major employers include firms such as Deloitte, EY, KPMG, PricewaterhouseCoopers, major corporates like Wesfarmers and Woodside, small businesses, public sector, local government.


Further Study

You may choose to pursue further expertise through a Master of Professional Accounting or a Master of Commerce.


Professional accreditation

This course satisfies the accreditation requirements of the following professional accounting associations: Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA ANZ) and CPA Australia. Graduates are eligible to join as a Chartered Accountant subject to completing three years Mentored Practical Experience. Graduates are eligible to join as Associate members of CPA Australia.
