Course Overview
The Bachelor of Environmental Science and Master of Environmental Science is a four-year accelerated program that combines a bachelor's degree with a master's degree. This course is designed to provide students with advanced skills and knowledge in dealing with issues such as climate change, water resource management, sustainable natural resource use, and the rehabilitation of degraded or polluted environments.
Course Structure
In the first three years, students will complete their selected extended major in Environmental Science and Management or Environmental Science and Ecology, and a semester of postgraduate study. In the final year, students will complete their selected specialization in the Master of Environmental Science.

Graduates of this course will find career opportunities in a range of areas, including:
- Environmental consulting firms
- Commonwealth and state agencies responsible for the environment, water, conservation, agriculture, and food, and primary industries
- Private sector firms working in the resources sector and non-government organizations

Admission Requirements
The University of Western Australia welcomes applications from international and domestic school-leavers. Admission requirements include:
- Minimum overall IELTS score of 6.5, with no band less than 6.0
- Mathematics Methods ATAR; OR Mathematics Applications ATAR with a mathematics unit taken in the first year; OR Students without ATAR mathematics to take two mathematics units in their first year
- Chemistry ATAR or an additional chemistry unit taken in the first year
Fees and Scholarships
- Domestic Student Fees: For Commonwealth-supported places, student contribution amounts are charged by unit, based on area of study. Fees are subject to annual indexation.
- International Student Fees: Annual course fee is $49,500.00 (2025). Fees are subject to annual indexation.
- Scholarships are available to students from a diverse range of backgrounds, including academic achievement, financial need, educational disadvantage, leadership, and community service.
