Foundations of Data Analytics and Business Intelligence - CanTech!

This is an eight-week course that teaches the foundational components of business intelligence and data analytics. The training will focus on transferable skills such as data conversion, data storage, data validation, metadata, SQL, and data modelling. At the end of the course, participants will be able to perform manual data tidying using Excel and automated tidying using Power Query. Students will complete exercises and workshops designed to increase their comfort with managing and understanding data, and learn skills relating to working collaboratively with stakeholders on a variety of entry-level tasks. This course will impart basic skills in creating, interpreting and presenting data visualizations in PowerBI, and participants who complete the course will be able to engage with data visualizations in an effective way, using star schema, clustered and stacked bar charts among other techniques.
