BSc (Hons) with Foundation Year
This course is a four-year degree in Child Nursing with an integrated foundation year. If you don’t meet the entry requirements for the three-year programme but can demonstrate your commitment to nursing and relevant life experience, this course is your alternative route into child nursing.

Course Overview
The foundation year will prepare you to study nursing by building on your health care, science, and research knowledge. During the foundation year you will study with students preparing for a range of professional courses, including paramedicine, physiotherapy and diagnostic radiography. Successful completion of the foundation year guarantees your progression on to our three-year Child Nursing degree.

Career Opportunities
Once you graduate with Children's Nursing (BSc), you’ll be eligible to register as a nurse with the NMC, the professional regulatory body for nurses.
Course Highlights
- £5,000 payment: If you’re a UK student, when you progress to BSc Child Nursing, you may receive a payment of at least £5,000 for each of the final three years of the course, which you don’t need to pay back.
Teaching and Assessment

Fees
UK and EU students
- The standard fee for full-time home and EU undergraduate students on BA/BSc/LLB degrees and FdA/FdSc degrees will be £9,535 per year for new and continuing students.
International students
- The standard tuition fee for full-time international students enrolling on BA/BSc/LLB degrees and FdA/FdSc degrees in the 2025/26 academic year is £16,700 per year.

- Placement hours are built into the final three years of the course, where your time will be split between learning on campus and developing your skills on placements across the midlands region.
