Workplace TASK Program Overview
Program Description
The Workplace TASK program is an eight-month program that offers students with disabilities the opportunity to learn self-management and employment skills. TASK stands for Training in Attitudes, Skills, and Knowledge for the Workplace. It is a full-time program that runs four days a week from 8:30 to 2:30 each day from September to late April, in a safe and supportive classroom setting.

- Three community-based work experiences to gain valuable on-the-job experience with employers who recognize your potential
Career Outlook
The Institute for Research and Development on Inclusion and Society reports that only 52.7% of people with physical disabilities and 26.1% of people with intellectual disabilities were employed in Canada in 2011. In B.C. alone, the 2012 Statistics Canada’s Canadian Survey on Disability estimated 546,760 British Columbians age 15 and over had a disability — representing 14.8 per cent of the population.
Funding and Support
Depending on your personal circumstances, funding may be available to cover tuition costs, books, and supplies.
Program Completion and Next Steps
Once you complete the Workplace TASK program, you have the skills and experience necessary to find employment in the community. Or you can pursue further studies at UFV or elsewhere to enhance your qualifications for employment.
