Overview

The Information Technology Systems (ITS) Diploma program equips graduates with the hardware and software skills required for the generation, storage, retrieval, transmission, and protection of digital information. The program content prepares graduates for the completion of industry-recognized certificates and provides practical skills to enter the information technology (IT) sector.

Laptop Specifications

A laptop computer with course-applicable software is required, meeting the following specifications:


  • Intel quad-core CPU (i7) or later generation
  • 16GB RAM or greater
  • 512 GB SSD or greater (Hard Drive & storage)
  • On-board integrated (Video card)
  • 15 inches or greater screen
  • Windows 10 Pro/education 64-bit (MacOS is not supported)

Admission Requirements

  • Credit in English 30-1, or 65% in English 30-2, or equivalent
  • Credit in Math 30-1 or Math 30-2, or equivalent

Alternatively, applicants can meet the admission requirements through:


  • Successful completion of the General Educational Development test (GED) test with a minimum score in the following sections:
    • Writing Skills: 520 minimum standard score
    • Interpreting Literature and Art: 520 minimum standard score
    • Math: 520 minimum standard score
  • Satisfactory results on the Bow Valley College Admission and Placement Test

English Language Proficiency Requirements

Applicants whose first language is not English must meet the English language proficiency requirements.


Academic Upgrading

Applicants can enhance their previous education to meet the missing admissions requirements for one of the BVC programs.
