Program Overview
FdSc Civil Engineering
Overview
This course has very strong links with industry and is delivered on a part-time, day release basis and is specifically aimed at students who are working within the industry and being sponsored in their studies by their employers. A number of modules are delivered by tutors who are primarily employed as practicing professionals within the industry and who are employed by the colleges on proportional contracts. Graduates have found employment as site engineers, CAD technicians, technician engineers, highway engineers and estimators. Students completing the FdSc course have the option of entering the final level of BSc (Hons) Civil Engineering (Progression year). This is course not available for international students.
Accreditation is pending subject to successful review at the next accreditation visit in June 2025.

Entry Requirements
UK Academic Requirements
- 80 UCAS tariff points (or above)
- CDD (A-Level)
- MMP (BTEC)
- Pass A*-C (T Level)
- Pass in Access to He Diploma.
International Requirements
- IELTS 6.0 overall (minimum 5.5 in all components) where English is not the student's first language.
Transferring Credit
- If you have previously studied at higher education level before you may be able to transfer credits to a related course at the University of Suffolk and reduce the period of study time necessary to achieve your degree.
Mature Applicants
- Students aged 21 or over at the start of their course are regarded as mature students. The University of Suffolk offers a flexible admissions process for mature students, which takes into account life and work experience.

2025/26
- UK Full-time Tuition Fee: £8,220 per year
- UK Part-time Tuition Fee: £1,370 per 20 credit module
- International Full-time Tuition Fee: £15,690 per year
2026/27
- UK Full-time Tuition Fee: £8,220* per year
- UK Part-time Tuition Fee: £1,370** per 20 credit module
- International Full-time Tuition Fee: £15,690 per year
*Maximum tuition fees chargeable to Home-fee students are set by the UK Government normally in the autumn or early winter in the year prior to the year of entry (e.g. autumn 2025 for entry in 2026/27). The University of Suffolk reserves the right to increase tuition fees for 2026/27 if the UK Government increases the maximum annual fee.
