PgD Specialist Community Public Health Nursing
Overview
The Postgraduate Diploma in Specialist Community Public Health Nursing (SCPHN) is a program designed for practitioners to develop the knowledge, understanding, and skills necessary to prevent ill-health, improve health and wellbeing, and reduce health inequalities. The course is committed to ongoing development of SCPHN’s and is contemporary in its content and delivery.
Course Structure
The program is underpinned by the ten key principles of public health practice, which can be grouped into four domains:
- The search for health needs
- Stimulation of awareness of health needs
- Influence on policies affecting health
- Facilitation of health-enhancing activities

All modules are mandatory.
Entry Requirements
- Registration on Part One of the NMC Register
- An honours degree normally at 2:2 or above (120 credits at Level 6)
- GCSE English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above or Level 2 functional skills
- NMC register checks undertaken prior to offer
- DBS checks undertaken prior to offer
Fees and Funding
- UK Full-time Tuition Fee: £6,100 per year
- UK Part-time Tuition Fee: £1,145 per 20 credit module
- International Full-time Tuition Fee: £10,140 per year

Facilities and Resources
The Health and Wellbeing building provides students with a variety of state-of-the-art clinical simulation facilities, including two simulated hospital wards, a midwifery birthing unit, physiotherapy teaching spaces, a sports and exercise facility, and a working radiography imaging suite. The building also hosts the Institute of Health and Wellbeing Research and the Integrated Care Academy.
