About the Course

This course is for those graduates who want to achieve Qualified Teacher Status to be able to teach in a Prep School in England. You will learn about all aspects of working as a teacher, including teaching strategies, child development, policies and processes, and ways to ensure that effective learning takes place.


Entry Requirements

  • UK degree: An ENIC statement of comparability is required for qualifications that have been awarded outside of the UK.
  • GCSE in English, maths and science: Or a science at grade 4 or above or equivalent.
  • Interview: Attend an interview.
  • Literacy and numeracy: Demonstrate competence in literacy and numeracy.
  • Reference: Provide a reference from your headteacher supporting your application to undertake a PGCE.
  • Criminal record check: Obtain a satisfactory criminal record check and show the physical and mental fitness to teach.

Teaching & Assessment

The Prep PGCE is a 37-week school-based course during which time you will work under the guidance of a mentor and receive weekly tutorials to review your progress and to set targets.

  • QTS with PGCE (PREP Sep 2025): £7,500

Accommodation for all residentials will be arranged by the Faculty of Education staff.
