Add to your existing qualifications in English as a Foreign Language, with our Business English (Final Year Top Up) and develop the communication and cultural skills to help you thrive as a Transnational Graduate.

With this programme you will develop your English fluency and professional communication skills. You’ll focus on the practical development of your written and oral communication skills and cross-cultural awareness, enabling you to confidently communicate in English in the workplace and beyond.

Gain first-hand experience of the working world in the UK through work-based learning opportunities, enabling you to implement practical skills learned on the programme, like collaboration and the strategies to deal with translation challenges that arise from cultural differences.

Course Details

Course Structure

The programme is for independent-minded students who want a combination of language learning and an inter-cultural dimension. You will pursue modules that will prepare you in different ways for the world of work - drawing on your experience in English as a Foreign Language.

Learning and Teaching

This is an intensive face-to-face programme which lasts for one academic year. A wide range of learning and teaching methods are used within the programmes. Activities will include group problem solving, information gathering and synthesis, individual and group presentations, report writing, analysing case studies, using information technology, and engaging with others. There are regular opportunities for discussions with tutors, formative feedback from tutors, and testing understanding through questioning and working with others. Students across modules are encouraged to challenge, evaluate, and critique.

Assessment

The assessment strategy across the programme seeks to be:

• diverse, promoting inclusive assessment;
• applied to live scenarios, encouraging engagement and critical understanding
• whilst reducing potential for academic misconduct;
• formative as well as summative, allowing for feedforward and feedback comments;

• Specific Entry Requirements
  • Successful completion of a course (of Applied English or Business English) which is equivalent to the first two years of a UK honours degree (240 credits).
• Selection Process
  • Applicants may apply via UCAS or directly to the university via our direct application portal.
  • The programme is designed to attract students from a range of backgrounds and nationalities.
  • Both European qualifications and International qualifications can be considered by Admissions and the team can provide advice on eligibility.
• English Language Requirements
  • English language proficiency demonstrated through IELTS minimum level 6.0 (with a 6.0 in reading and writing) or equivalent.
