Overview
This course combines the study of English Literature with the development of creative writing skills. The foundation year provides a solid grounding in literature and prepares students for degree-level study.
Course Details
Course Structure
The course consists of a foundation year, followed by three years of undergraduate study.
- Foundation Year: Students study a range of modules, including "Being Human: Love, Sex and Death," "Cultural Moments," "Language, Vision and Representation," "Research Project," and "The Reflective Learner."
- Year 1: Students take compulsory modules, including "Creative Writing 1: Voice and Craft in Poetry and Prose," "Reading for Meaning," "Reading Wonderland: The Literature of Oxford," "Shakespeare Now," and "Theory, Writing and Power."
- Year 2: Students take compulsory modules, including "Creative Writing 2: Exploring Genre, Form and Style," "Literature and Environments: Pastoral to Climate Fiction," and "Transgressive Texts: 400 years of breaking the rules."
- Year 3: Students take compulsory modules, including "Creative Writing 3: Towards Professionalism and Publication" and "Major Research Project in Creative Writing."
