Program Overview

Organisational Resource Management in Health and Social Care

Overview

Scarcity of resources is a basic economic problem with which public service managers charged with resource management have to contend.

This module will give you a broad understanding of the role played by economics and the management of finance within the health and social care sectors. We'll explore the different ways of allocating funds to health and social care organisations, categories of costs and how each behaves. We'll also focus on the budgetary process to help you improve your skills as budget holders.

Through this module you will become more confident at:

  • negotiating for additional resources
  • working with local development plans
  • developing business plans and business cases.

You will be assessed 100% through coursework. This module may be taken as a standalone module of 200 hours of study over 12 weeks. Or it may be completed as part of a programme of study.
