Program Overview
Care of the Older Person with Frailty
Overview
The module will provide learners with the opportunity to develop their knowledge, skills and understanding of the complexity of assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of care relevant to the older person with frailty in a variety of care environments including the home, community settings and hospital.
Learners will develop their practical experience and skills of caring for these patients within the clinical settings that they work in. The module will provide students with the opportunity to think critically and logically about issues pertinent to the acute care of the older person with frailty.

Entry Requirements
- You must be a qualified health care professional with a minimum of one year of relevant clinical experience, and from a respective healthcare background.
Tuition Fees
- 2025/26:
- CPD Home (UK) part time: £2,000 per module if taken as a standalone module or £2,420 per module if taken as part of an award bearing course
- Fees quoted are for the first year only. If you are studying a course that lasts longer than one year your fees will increase each year.
Payment and Refund Information
- Tuition fee instalments for the semester are due by the Monday of week 1 of each semester.
- Students are not liable for full fees for that semester if they leave before week 4. If the leaving date is after week 4, full fees for the semester are payable.

Learning and Assessment
- The module will be delivered using a mixture of asynchronous learning activities and discussions via the Moodle platform, and synchronous seminars delivered via Zoom.
- Students will be supported to build on their existing experience, develop the skills and knowledge required for achieving the learning outcomes.
- All activities will be facilitated by the module team, in conjunction with relevant specialist experts, while also providing the opportunity to learn both with and from peers.
Learning and Teaching

- Nature of fragility
- Anatomy and physiology of ageing
- Atypical presentation of acute illness in the frail older person
- Interplay of co morbidities, multiple interacting complex problems and acute exacerbations of existing illness.
- Common and high impact issues which can result in harm to older people with frailty
- Relational/person centred care
- Comprehensive geriatric assessment (CGA) and evidence based models of care.
