Overview

This Coaching and Mentoring in Health and Social Care module is designed to enable you to explore the context, theory and application of coaching and mentoring within health and social care organisations.

In more detail, this broad based syllabus aims to cover:

• the rationale for coaching and mentoring in health and social care organisations
• principles, theories, models underpinning C&M and its practice within organisations
• research and critical evaluation in coaching and mentoring
• identifying and applying the core skills of coaching/mentoring in practice
• self-assessment and personal development in coaching and mentoring
• structure and frameworks to support developmental conversations and relationships over time
• contracting and review in coach/mentoring relationships
• developing a coaching/ mentoring culture – the principles and practice of organisational assessment, implementation and evaluation
• ethical considerations and best practice for coaching and mentoring
• supervision in coaching and mentoring.

You will be assessed 100% through coursework.

Entry Requirements

You must normally be from a healthcare background and have support from a manager to undertake this module of study.

English Language Requirements

In addition to the academic entry qualifications, if your first language is not English you must demonstrate that your level of English is appropriate for study at postgraduate level. An IELTS overall score of 6.5 is required for this course.

If you wish to take this as a standalone module then you can apply to be a postgraduate associate student using our online application portal. You will need to register for the portal prior to proceeding with an application. You may also opt to do this module as part of a larger programme of study.

£1,000 per module if taken as a standalone module or £1,210 per module if taken as part of an award bearing course

Fees Quoted

Fees quoted are for the first year only. If you are studying a course that lasts longer than one year your fees will increase each year.

How and When to Pay

Tuition fee instalments for the semester are due by the Monday of week 1 of each semester. Students are not liable for full fees for that semester if they leave before week 4. If the leaving date is after week 4, full fees for the semester are payable.
