Program Overview


Pre-Master

Overview

The Pre-Master's program at Munich Business School is a unique, compact preparatory program that enables "lateral entrants" – people with qualifications in other disciplines – to meet the requirements for admission to the business master's programs at MBS. The Pre-Master's is an online course comprising a series of live digital sessions, taught entirely in English.

Curriculum

Management of Organizations (6 ECTS)

  • Content: Introduction to management, covering basic elements of a manager's job and introducing the various functions of management: planning, organizing, leading, and controlling.
  • Teaching and Learning Methods:
    • Interactive lectures, group discussions
    • Working on case studies as group work
    • Presentations
    • Role plays

Financial Management (6 ECTS)

  • Content: Introduction to modern financial management, covering core subjects in finance such as investment decision-making, valuation of assets, financing an organization, and financial risk management.
  • Teaching and Learning Methods:
    • Interactive lecture and discussion
    • Working on case studies in small groups or as an individual activity

Strategic Marketing (6 ECTS)

  • Content: Introduction to the role of marketing in the organization, with a focus on marketing strategy as a comprehensive, integrated plan designed to meet the needs of the consumer and thus facilitate exchange.
  • Teaching and Learning Methods:
    • Lectures and tutorials
    • Preparation of cases and exercises individually or in a group
    • Team discussions and presentations

Financial and Managerial Accounting (6 ECTS)

  • Content: Understanding of accounting objectives, principles, and the system of double-entry bookkeeping, including the creation of balance sheets, profit and loss accounts, and cash flow statements.
  • Teaching and Learning Methods:
    • Seminar-like lecture
    • Exercises and case studies in small working groups

Managerial Economics (3 ECTS)

  • Content: Comprehensive understanding of key economic concepts and terminology, including microeconomic theories and models, game theory, and macroeconomic topics, theories, and models.
  • Teaching and Learning Methods:
    • Lecture
    • Problem sets and/or case studies
    • Oral exam and presentation

Business Communication (3 ECTS)

  • Content: Development of business communication skills, including building business relationships, structuring effective business messages, and the art of persuasion in challenging situations.
  • Teaching and Learning Methods:
    • Interactive lecture
    • Case Studies
    • Role-play

German (6 ECTS)

  • Content: Reaching the German language level A1.1 (CEFR), including writing very short texts with simple sentences about everyday situations, asking and answering questions about daily life and familiar topics, and improving reading and listening comprehension of short and simple texts and conversations.
  • Teaching and Learning Methods:
    • Communicative lectures (grammatical content and listening)
    • Group work (training of writing and reading skills)
    • Role-plays (practicing speech abilities) and private studies

Admission Requirements

  • University Degree: Above-average university degree in any subject area, awarded by a state-recognized university.
  • English Skills: Excellent English skills (TOEFL iBT min. 85/IELTS 6.5/ELS 112), as the program is taught entirely in English.

Application Process

  • Two-Stage Application: Written application and a face-to-face interview.
  • Application Period: Applications for the Pre-Master's program are only accepted in conjunction with an application for a master's program at MBS.

  • Master's Program: EUR 24,900 (Spring 2025) or EUR 25,740 (Fall 2025)
  • Overall Tuition Fee: EUR 31,400 (Spring 2025) or EUR 32,240 (Fall 2025)

  • Enrollment Fee (Non EU/EFTA): EUR 1,490
