Restorative Practice (Level 4)
Overview
This module will provide the Dental Nurse with the foundations needed to support the development of knowledge, skills and understanding required to take patients dental records. This module will focus upon practical skills such as photography, impression taking and Intra-oral scanning. The Dental Nurse will be able to develop their skills to provide an effective service to patients/ clients.
Aims
This module aims to:
- Provide the student with applied theoretical knowledge, decision making skills and core practical clinical skills to initiate competent, evidence-based care when taking dental impressions, dental photography, and intraoral scanning.

Career Benefits
This module provides an opportunity to develop the essential knowledge and skills to lead on Nurse lead clinics and to take dental records for patients attending orthodontic and restorative clinics including patients with oncology presentations. The module supports the foundations of knowledge and enables registered Dental Nurses once completed to continue to develop their current practice.
Entry Requirements
- Level 3 Dental Nursing Qualification
- Level 2 Maths and English
- Qualified Dental Nurse experienced for over 2 years
- Registered with the General Dental Council (GDC)
- Employed within an appropriate dental environment as a Dental Nurse
- Unrestricted registration with the GDC
