Program Overview
About the Program
Health statistics reveal that the incidence of diet-related chronic diseases is increasing in the population. Scientific research results show that individuals' lifestyle and food intake preferences have a strong influence on the prevention of diet-related chronic diseases. In addition, medical nutrition therapy plays a key role in controlling diseases and improving quality of life.
Striking and quickly updated scientific developments in the field of nutrition-foods and health, increase the interest, supply and demand of all segments of society such as the public, media, food sector, and commercial organizations towards this subject. The contradictions, differences in interpretations and recommendations in the information related to food and nutrition, which are rapidly disseminated through communication tools, create a serious confusion in patients and other members of the society who are on a diet for various reasons on issues such as food selection. This situation makes it clear that dietitians, who are responsible for the production, monitoring, selection, interpretation and transfer of information on food- nutrition-health to the public, should strengthen their own knowledge with evidence-based information.
The aim of the Master’s Program in Nutrition and Dietetics at İstanbul Bilgi University is to equip dietitians to gain advanced nutritional knowledge, to produce quality scientific publications, to follow current developments for the prevention and treatment of diseases with increasing incidence in the society, to select and interpret the information that has evidence value among them, and to transfer it to their own professional practices, the public, the media and commercial organizations in the most accurate way.
