This two-day non-accredited short course is for social care practitioners and managers who wish to gain the skills to assess risk and need across the continuum of need.

What You Study

This course aims to:


  • consider risks we all take in life and how we calculate our own risk-taking behaviour
  • explore and define risk factors; static, dynamic, acute, and consider where we can best intervene
  • introduce and practice using some risk-assessment tools
  • explore approaches, methods, tools and theories in relation to risk assessment
  • identify messages from serious case reviews in relation to risk management
  • introduce outcomes-based planning
