We have a comprehensive portfolio of programmes in the field of public policy and public administration:
- MSc Public Policy focuses on skills for careers including policy development, policy analysis, policy presentation and policy evaluation across a range of policy areas (for example environmental, social or public services policy).
- Master of Public Administration (MPA) focuses especially on management skills for public organisations including decision making, leadership and performance management.
- MSc Social Data Science centres on data analysis techniques applied to a range of substantive policy questions and skills for statistical approaches.
- MSc Security and Data Science focuses on data analysis in the context of security, defence, and law enforcement.
Within each programme, specialist dissertations enable students to focus on particular topics of interest, including in areas where they may want to pursue future careers. Students can further choose options to develop their qualitative or quantitative analysis skills or to develop both skill sets according to their individual interests.
In addition to these standard Masters programmes, we offer a Systems Thinking Degree Apprenticeship for people already working for an employer, who want to enhance their professional development in the area of systems thinking by pursuing this Level 7 apprenticeship.
When joining our programmes you will become part of a thriving postgraduate community of Masters and PhD students. The programmes' content is developed to incorporate the latest thinking including drawing on our research projects funded by UK Government, the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC), Natural Environment Research Council (NERC), and the European Commission. Our academic staff also have strong links with organisations who use our research findings including in central and local governments, private organisations, charities and other non-governmental organisations and international bodies.
Studying at Exeter was an unforgettable chapter of my life, filled with growth, inspiration, and cherished memories.
I especially loved working on my dissertation, which was a transformative experience that deepened my understanding of how to create meaningful reforms as a civil servant. It inspired me to think about how I could contribute to my homeland and left me feeling more confident and capable in my professional abilities.
The skills and knowledge I gained here have been invaluable for my career. Now, I plan to continue serving my country as a civil servant at the Ministry of the National Economy of Kazakhstan, striving to make a positive impact.
