Accreditations
The Electrical and Electronic Engineering MEng and Electrical and Electronic Engineering with Industrial Experience MEng are accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) as fully satisfying the educational base for a Chartered Engineer (CEng).
Course Content
Year 1
- 120 credits of compulsory modules
- Multidisciplinary ethos of the first year builds core theoretical and practical knowledge in all engineering disciplines
- Year-long multidisciplinary group project provides a means of putting core knowledge into practice
Year 2
- 120 credits of compulsory modules
- Group project again provides context and motivation for the theory taught in the second year
- Practice of developing mathematical knowledge and programming skill in tandem continues in the second year
Year 3
- 90 credits of compulsory modules, 30 credits of optional modules
- Focus on acquiring further core Electrical and Electronic engineering knowledge
- Students will take modules in Mechatronics, Communications Engineering, Electric Machines and Power Electronics, and Engineering Electromagnetics
Placement Year (if taken)
- 120 credits of compulsory modules
- Paid placement in business or industry for the duration of your third year
Final Year
- 60 credits of compulsory modules, 60 credits of optional modules
- MEng students in their graduating year complete a 45 credit individual investigative project in collaboration with a specialist academic supervisor

Learning and Teaching

Assessment
- Modules are assessed by a combination of continuous assessment through small practical exercises, project work, essay writing, presentations and exams
