Overview
Further your knowledge and expertise in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and/or Computed Tomography (CT) while working towards one or more of the pillars of Advanced Practice. Developed in collaboration with local NHS trust to meet healthcare workforce needs as demands for cross-sectional imaging and advanced level practice increase. Join our vibrant community and study alongside colleagues from different backgrounds providing diverse perspectives. Develop strong research skills, ideal for those wishing to pursue future PhD study or research careers.
Entry Requirements
- 2:2 in BSc or MSci Diagnostic Radiography.
- Accreditation of Prior Learning (APL) is a process whereby students, who have already gained relevant skills and knowledge prior to the start of their course, may be granted a partial credit exemption from their programme instead of unnecessarily repeating work.
- International students need to show they have the required level of English language to study this course. The required test scores for this course fall under Profile B2.

Teaching and Research
- Learning and teaching: Your learning is through lectures, tutorials and seminars. We are strongly committed to offering high levels of student support. You will have a Personal Tutor at the University who will offer both personal and academic support.
- Research-led teaching: We believe every student benefits from being part of a research-led culture and being taught by experts – you will discuss the very latest ideas in seminars and tutorials and become actively involved in research yourself. Research plays an important part in developing patient care and radiography as a whole for the future. You will be taught by staff who are at the cutting edge of their research areas which ensures you receive the most up-to-date knowledge.
Careers
- The rapid growth of community diagnostic centres, specialising in cross-sectional imaging, demands radiographers with advanced skills and knowledge. While undergraduate programmes provide a solid foundation, they may not fully equip graduates for the increasing complexity of modern imaging departments.
- Developed in collaboration with local NHS services to fill a specific workforce need for increased specialist skills and leadership, our MSc in Medical Imaging offers the perfect solution. This programme empowers you with the expertise to excel in cross-sectional imaging, coupled with opportunities to develop leadership, research, and clinical education skills. Whether you're an international student or a UK-based professional, this program will elevate your career and prepare you for a future in healthcare innovation.
- Radiographers trained in the UK are recognised as being among the best in the world and the health providers of many countries recruit in the UK.
