Course Overview

The Health Sciences with Foundation Year BSc is designed for students who do not meet the requirements for an undergraduate healthcare degree. The one-year foundation program helps students develop their academic reading, writing, critical thinking, communication, and scientific skills to prepare them for the next level of study.

Alternative Qualifications

The university recognizes that applicants have different experiences and follow various pathways into higher education. Alternative qualifications are considered on an individual basis, including:

• Access to HE Diploma with a minimum of 15 Level 3 grades credits at Distinction and 18 at Merit and 12 at Pass
• Level 3 qualification to include Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Health & Social Care
• RQF Level 3 BTEC National Extended Diploma at DMM
• RQF Level 3 BTEC National Diploma at DM plus 1 A Level at C
• RQF Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma at M plus A Levels at BC or D plus A Levels at CC
• National Foundation Dip: Sport & Exercise /Health & Social Care: D+CC or M+BC

Our Medical School is based in Queen’s Medical Centre, one of the UK’s largest hospitals. There are dedicated clinical skills facilities including a dissection suite and teaching laboratories for medicine and healthcare students. The hospital is located opposite University Park Campus.
