Overview

The Arts and Humanities with Foundation Year BA Hons program is designed for talented UK students who are interested in arts and humanities subjects but may not meet the usual entry requirements. The foundation year provides a preparatory year that helps students develop the necessary skills and confidence to succeed in their undergraduate studies.

Qualification and Entry Requirements

• Qualification: Bachelor of Arts with Honours
• Entry Requirements:
  • 24 Points overall or 544 in 3 Higher Level Certificates (IB score)
  • BCC (A level)
  • Required subjects for certain UG degree programs within the Faculty of Arts:
    • BA French Studies: Grade C in French at A Level
    • BA Modern Languages: Grade C in at least one of French, German, Russian, or Spanish at A level
    • BA Modern Languages with Translation: Grade C in one of French, German, Russian, or Spanish at A Level
    • BA Music: Grade C in A Level Music, or Grade 5 Theory ABRSM, LCM, Trinity, or Rockschool

• Start Date: September 2025
• Duration: 4 years full-time (1 year foundation course, 3 years undergraduate course)

Fees

• Tuition Fees 2025/26: £5,760 (UK Government maximum tuition fee for UK undergraduate students studying some foundation year courses)
• Additional Costs:
  • Essential course materials are supplied.
  • Books: £100 per year (estimated)
  • Volunteering and placements: transport and refreshments costs

Course Overview

The Arts and Humanities Foundation Year will help prepare students for undergraduate study at Nottingham. Through a range of engaging modules, students will develop key skills such as communication, critical thinking, teamwork, and digital capability.
