Modern Languages (with Foundation Year) BA

Overview

The Modern Languages (with Foundation Year) BA program is designed for students who want to study modern languages but do not meet the standard entry requirements. The program includes a foundation year that prepares students for undergraduate study, followed by three years of language study.

Entry Requirements

• BCC at A level
• 24 points overall or 544 in 3 Higher Level Certificates (IB)
• Grade C in at least one of French, German, Mandarin Chinese, Russian, or Spanish at A level
• English grade 4 (C) at GCSE

Alternative Qualifications

The university accepts alternative qualifications, including:

• Access to HE Diploma
• Advanced Diploma
• BTEC HND/HNC
• BTEC Extended Diploma

Tuition Fees

• £5,760 (UK undergraduate tuition fee for the academic year 25/26)

Additional Costs

• Books: £100 per year (estimated)
• Volunteering and placements: transport and refreshments costs
• Equipment: a device for Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) and a suitable laptop for work on and off-campus

Study Abroad

Students can apply to study abroad at one of the university's partner institutions or at University of Nottingham China or University of Nottingham Malaysia.

Placements and Internships

Students can choose to add an optional placement year to their three-year progression degree.
