Mechanical Engineering including an Integrated Study Abroad Year (Year 2 abroad) MEng

Overview

The MEng Mechanical Engineering degree equips students with the skills and knowledge to make a difference in industries ranging from aerospace and renewable energy to medicine and Formula 1. This four-year course includes a compulsory year abroad, where students will study at one of the University's partner institutions.

Course Information

This course is accredited by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) and the Institution of Engineering Designers (IED) on behalf of the Engineering Council for the purposes of demonstrating in full, the underpinning knowledge and understanding required for registration as a Chartered Engineer (CEng).


Entry Requirements

  • A Levels: A*AA
  • IB Score: 36 Points overall or 766 in 3 Higher Level Certificates
  • GCSE English: Grade 4 (C)
  • Excluded Subjects: General Studies, Critical Thinking, Citizenship Studies, CIE Global Perspectives and Research, CIE Thinking Skills

Additional Entry Requirements

  • Alternative Qualifications: We recognise that applicants have a wealth of different experiences and follow a variety of pathways into higher education. We treat all applicants with alternative qualifications (besides A-levels and the International Baccalaureate) on an individual basis.
  • BTEC Nationals: Where an offer is made, our standard requirements are: BTEC National Extended Certificate and A Levels – D with A*A in A Level Maths, and Physics or Further Maths
  • Extended Project Qualification (EPQ): If you have already achieved your EPQ at grade A you will automatically be offered one grade lower in a non-mandatory A level subject.
