Animal Science MSci
Overview
The Animal Science MSci program at the University of Nottingham is a four-year undergraduate degree that focuses on the study of managed animals in settings such as farms, zoos, and laboratories. The program blends theoretical knowledge with hands-on learning, providing students with practical experience in laboratories and with animal handling and health assessment in various species.
Qualification and Entry Requirements
- Qualification: MSci Hons
- Entry Requirements: BBB
- UCAS Code: D322
- Duration: 4 years full-time
- Fees: £9,535*
Course Information
The program covers a wide range of topics, including animal physiology, nutrition, genetics, health, and welfare. Students can choose from four options to focus on towards the end of the first year:
- Bioveterinary Science – examine the science behind animal health and disease
- Physiology and Biotechnology – study animal structure and function, including stem cell and developmental biology
- Livestock Production – investigate the science of farm animal nutrition, productivity, and fertility
- Ecology and Conservation – focus on the science, management, and welfare of zoo and captive animals
Study Abroad
Students have the opportunity to spend a semester or an additional year studying abroad at one of the university's partner universities.
Research Project
In the final year, students will work on a substantial research project, receiving advanced training in communication, analytical, and project management skills, with support from an academic supervisor.
