Overview
The International Media and Communications (with Foundation Year) BA program is designed to prepare students for a career in media and communications. The program includes a foundation year that provides students with the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed in their undergraduate studies.
Qualification and Entry Requirements
- Qualification: Bachelor of Arts with Honours
- Entry Requirements:
- BCC at A level
- 24 points overall or 544 in 3 Higher Level Certificates (IB score)
- GCSE English grade 4 (C)
- Additional entry requirements may apply

- Duration: 4 years full-time
Fees
- Tuition fees: £5,760* (UK undergraduate tuition fee for the academic year 25/26)
Course Information
The program includes a foundation year that provides students with the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed in their undergraduate studies. The foundation year includes six modules that cover a range of topics, including critical thinking, reflective learning, language and culture, media and communication, narrative and creativity, and a project or language module.
Progression to Direct Entry Degree
On successful completion of the foundation year, students will progress directly to their undergraduate course, chosen from the full range of courses provided within the Faculty of Arts.
Study Abroad and Placements
Students may have the opportunity to study abroad at one of the university's partner institutions or at the University of Nottingham China or University of Nottingham Malaysia. Additionally, students may be able to participate in placements or internships as part of their undergraduate course.
Careers
The program is designed to provide students with the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in a career in media and communications. Students will have access to the university's careers service and will be able to participate in CV-enhancing programs, such as the Nottingham Advantage Award and the Student Ambassador scheme.
Teaching and Learning
The program includes a range of teaching methods, including lectures, seminars, tutorials, and workshops. Students will be assessed through a variety of methods, including essays, posters, presentations, and portfolios.
Contact Time and Study Hours
Students will have at least 12 hours of timetabled contact per week and will be expected to spend additional time studying and preparing for assessments.
